The Michigan Transportation Plan, also known as the State Long-Range Plan, is a 25-year plan for transforming Michigan’s transportation system. The Non-Motorized Transportation Technical Report is a component within this plan.
The MNRTF Board has adopted policies and procedures for a number of issues pertaining to MNRTF applications and funded projects. Since October 1999, Department staff has been working with the Board to review and update these policies and to compile specific implementation procedures in support of each policy. All policies are subject to review and may be updated periodically. Board policies for which detailed procedures have been adopted are noted.
Michigan currently has a tremendous set of financial, institutional, and stakeholder resources that have helped make us a national leader in rail-trail development. Building on the resources outlined below and adding innovative new tools will enable us to reach the goals identified in this coordinated state wide trails vision.
